The highlight of the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards and most prestigious trophy was awarded to this beautiful wine in October 2017, two days before it arrived in our warehouse in Luxembourg.
We were extremely excited about this since VINOZ was one of the very first, if not the first importer of the Turkey Flat 2016 Grenache in Europe. It was almost like we anticipated great things to come when we ordered this wine, which was only bottled the day before it left Adelaide for Luxembourg. For the first time ever (and to the surprise of many) the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy has been award to a Grenache.
A wine which, due to the winemakers’ impeccable craftsmanship, retains the perfect balance of fruit, tannin, herbaceousness and spice. We’ve paired it with lamb and absolutely loved it – but we’d also recommend it with beef, duck, turkey or even gamier meats, as well as with grilled or spiced dished, braises and stews.

Turkey Flat’s Pedro Ximénez was made from grapes grown in one of the last remaining Pedro plantings in the Barossa Valley. The grapes are amongst the last to be harvested each vintage in this region and the outcome is simply superb: a rich, luscious and intense fortified wine (think Sherry meets Port), displaying notes of marmalade, citrus peel and apricot.
